CHAPTER THIRTEEN

Jean had been sitting at the desk in the corner for some time. She seemed to be writing a letter, tough every time Eileen looked up from her book her friend was chewing on the end of her pen.

"Writing a letter?" Curiosity had gotten the better of her.

"Yeah. I'm writing Todd." Immediately Eileen's warning lights went on. She had begun to believe Jean had quit thinking about her husband entirely. The petite brunette swung her legs down off the couch and stood up. She walked casually over to the desk.

"You missing him?" she asked anxiously.

"Oh, no!" Eileen was relieved to see her friend looking so cheerful. It seemed it was Eileen who did the most worrying about Jean and Todd these days. "I just wanted him to know I was all right. Here, you can read the note if you want. I've had a heck of a time trying to figure out what, to say. Nothing that's been happening to me is anything I can tell anyone about. Anyone but you, that is."

Eileen read the note. "Dear Todd, having a fine quiet time. A time to think. Not even interested in men, it seems. I think it will be best if I stay here all summer."

Jean looked up at her friend anxiously. "Is it very awful of me to tell him a white lie like that?"

"You mean about the 'men'?"

"Heck no! Did he tell you about pink panties?"

"No. That's why I think… if we do get back together… I won't have to feel so bitter about him. I'll know I've had my free fun too."

"Sure. That makes sense. Do you think you'll go back to him then?"

"Probably not. But who knows? By the end of the summer, I may be tired of enjoying myself so much."

Eileen laughed. "Maybe you can be like me. Doctor Jekyll in the winter, Mr. Hyde in the summertime."

"Maybe I can. I'm beginning to think everyone should have a secret life, Eileen. It makes life kind of fun, you know?"

"You know something, Jean? I think I've been good for you. You're a hell of a lot more interesting person now than you were when you arrived here. Then, you were loveable. Now, you're downright intriguing. Do you think your husband would even be able to keep up with the new you?"

"Maybe not. But now that I've sprouted my own wings, it might be fun to find out."

Eileen put her arms around her girlfriend's shoulders. "Well, if I'm going to lose you, I want to start making up for future lost time. Let's go to bed."

Jean felt the familiar hot longing in her cunt. "Sure. Let's. I can finish my letter later. From now on, I'm not going to let anything be more important than the present."

"That's my girl!"

Arm in arm, the women who had been friends for so long retired to the bed where their friendship had scaled the limits.
