Although many of the locales depicted in this book exist, some-such as Rio Mirada and San Pedro Lempa-are the author’s inventions. Even existing cities and places have been changed and shaped to suit various dramatic purposes, and thus the narrative should be seen as taking place entirely within a fictive world.
